Our Vision & the Future of CLiKS
The vision behind CLIKS is to facilitate a Christian presence in every school in our area, to establish, maintain and develop links with all the schools in the Keighley district, with the aim of making pupil's experience of Church and Christianity a positive one. CLiKS will endeavour to support schools by offering the services of Christian workers, who will be able to assist schools in their teaching and learning within the Christian module of the RE curriculum. It will also provide support to teaching staff in other subjects and departments and in assemblies when invited. Assistance may be given in extra-curricular activities, such as sports coaching and establishing and running Christian groups.
The REWIND/FASTFORWARD events have become a real flagship for the work of CLIKS. They have been a real success but there are so many ways in which we as Churches can be involved in our local schools. For example:-
- listening to children read
- taking a work experience student at their place of work
- providing an extra pair of hands for school excursions and activities
- running voluntary clubs, including Christian groups
- taking assemblies
- offering practical help with gardens and maintenance or in the office
- being a governor
- joining the PTA
- organising a visit from a local school to your church to see what goes on
- supporting Rewind/ Fast Forward events
Several church representatives have been involved in taking school assemblies in many of the local Primary schools and links continue to develop. This is a very exciting time to be working in the local churches and building strong positive links with the schools in the area.
